Year 6

Open Evening - 13th September 2023

Welcome to Year 6

Thank you to everyone who came and visited our classroom's last week and listened to our talk on the expectations for Year 6 and key information that as a parent you will need to know.

If you were unable to join us last week, please see the presentation slides from the sessions above.

Welcome to the Autumn term:

We do hope you all have had a restful and enjoyable break and are ready for the new school year.

School opens on Tuesday 29th August 2023 and we are very much looking forward to working with all the Year Six children and to ensure they have a successful and fulfilling final year at Little Bowden. Please find some information below, which you may find useful for the Autumn Term.

Our PE days will be on Wednesdays (Outdoor) and Thursdays (Indoor). We ask that all children come to school in their PE kit on those days and that it is within the guidelines of our school uniform policy. All other times require children to come to school in normal school uniform.

We do put up a document each week on this page outlining what we will be covering for the following week in different subjects. This also includes any upcoming events or key information that you may need to be aware of. Homework is given out on a Monday and is expected to be back in school for Friday. There will be a homework club running at lunchtime on Tuesdays for any children that would like some support. Spellings are usually given out on a Monday and the children will then be tested on a Friday. You will be able to find any homework and spellings on the tabs at the top of this page. Homework and spellings will commence on the week beginning 11th September due to the residential.

Children were told on the transition days to bring in a pencil case if they wished to keep in their school drawers. Pencil cases need to be no larger than 30cm please.

Year 6 is a time of both challenges and excitement for children. The increased workload and expectations can be demanding, fostering a sense of resilience and determination. Yet, amidst the challenges, Year 6 brings its own share of fun and memorable experiences and we want the children to thoroughly enjoy their final year at primary school. If there is anything that we (as a team) can do to support you or your child, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Thank you
